In postwar Los Angeles, visionary filmmaker Everett Toussaint quietly begins to build a revolutionary studio—one designed to reclaim stories Hollywood has systematically erased. Refusing to ask for permission, Langston creates Toussaint Studios on a humble backlot, assembling a community of overlooked artists and rewriting the rules of cinematic storytelling.

But Langston’s uncompromising vision is challenged when his son, Richard, falls in love with Eleanor Lewis, daughter of Hollywood mogul William Lewis. As these two powerful dynasties edge toward an unprecedented merger, racial and social tensions emerge, threatening the future Langston has fought so fiercely to protect.

The Lot is a lyrical exploration of family legacy, creative autonomy, and the power of choosing to build instead of asking to belong. With haunting direction by Garrett Bradley and a masterful screenplay by Jihan Crowther, the film examines the delicate balance between ambition, identity, and the profound sacrifices required to claim a place in history—on your own terms.
