Studio Atelier Announced as Participant in CFDA’s 2025 Met Gala Initiative for Emerging Black Designers
April 2025 — New York, NY
Studio Atelier, the Brooklyn-based fashion house led by creative director Stacy Strange, has been officially selected as part of the CFDA’s inaugural Tailored Voices initiative at this year’s Met Gala. The Tailored Voices initiative, launched in collaboration with The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, aims to platform a new wave of Black designers whose work reflects the innovation, depth, and cultural authorship shaping the future of fashion.
This year’s Met Gala theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” is inspired by Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. Studio Atelier’s inclusion marks a significant moment for the young brand, known for its sculptural silhouettes, emotional architecture, and storytelling-led approach to garment design.
“Being invited to this year’s Met Gala isn’t just an honor, it’s a moment of acknowledgment for the way our work speaks to legacy, craft, and the future of Black design,” says Strange. “The fact that we get to sit at this table means a great deal; literally and metaphorically.”
Studio Atelier will be dressing multiple guests at this year’s event, including a list of longtime muses and close friends like award season starlet Ara Myembi and newly engaged Hollywood princess Zuri Jones,
The CFDA initiative is part of a wider commitment to equity and long-term visibility for Black creatives within the fashion industry, providing selected designers with both a seat at the table and access to continued institutional support.
